1. Kao San Road

This is a road where people from all over the world come and meet. It is known as an area for foreign tourists looking for cheap accommodation and a true Thai experience. For the last decade or so Kao San gained enormous popularity and received worldwide recognition, establishing itself as one of the liveliest streets in Bangkok . Along this road one can find many restaurants, bars and pubs where people from every area of the globe can share their travel stories.

2. Patpong

This area is an entertainment area - but in the form of a red light district. Most of the people around the area are tourists wanting to see a so-called ‘show’ from the ladies in a bar (it is not a sex show, really, but something that must be witnessed since it can never be explained!) This is one of the most internationally known streets of Bngkok, if not the whole of Thailand. In the evening there is an open night market along the street offering anything that can be faked, such as Swiss watches or pirated DVDs. In short, this is a place where one can find many things of an extraordinary nature.

3. Silom Soi 2

This area can easily be dubbed as the gay centre of Bangkok, as all the restaurants, bars and clubs are exclusively for gay men. Any man walking in the area could and would be identified as a homosexual. The area is home not only to gay locals but gays from all across the globe who are looking for love in Bangkok’s gay community.

4. Silom Soi 4

Just a short walk from Soi 2, Soi 4 is also known as a gay area but not as much as Soi 2. A strip of about 100metres long, it is jam-packed with bars and clubs - one would not know where to start because all seem as lively as one another and equally loud. There are possibly one or two gay bars in the area but many straight young men and couples go there for a good time as it is more accepted than Soi 2.

5. Soi Cowboy

This strip is known as a second Patpong, a red light district with more locals heading there. One would find more Thais here than they would at Pat Pong because many believe this to be a better and ‘cleaner’ area, more friendly and less expensive. Not only this but many think that Soi Cowboy has better safety precautions than Pat Pong, as policemen in uniform can frequently be spotted walking around checking the area. Since 2000, many of the bars around were refurbished, elevating Soi Cowboy’s status to another level.

6. Royal City Avenue (RCA)

RCA is hugely popular amongst Thai teenagers, not only because of the bars and clubs but there are other activities to engage yourself in around the area. Although in truth the bars and clubs are the main reason why it is immensely trendy but places like the old cinema, the cheap restaurants with good food and the go-kart track also attract attention from locals who wish to steer away from drinking and clubbing.

7. Nana

Nana is a stretch on the Sukhumvit road from Soi 3 to Soi 19. The most notable site in Nana is the Nana Plaza where foreign tourists head for a drink, meet up with their friends, though it is more of the older crowd. Around the area there are many British style pubs where a pint is served with usual pub food like fish and chips or steak and kidney pie. Most of the bars there are just a simple bar, nothing glamourous, but just enough to sit and relax. Most have big-screen TVs showing live football matches and several pool tables as an attempt to capture the English pub atmosphere.

8. Suan Lum Night Bazaar

Just across the road from Lupini Park, or just a short walk from Silom, is Suan Lum Night Bazaar where everything is cheaper and the quality is not bad for the price. One can find almost anything in the Night Bazaar: furniture, home decorations, pets, clothes, restaurants and even a concert hall hosting international artists like the Black Eyed Peas when they came for their world tour. There are also hand-made objects with an Oriental touch to them which most tourists love to buy as gifts for friends, family and loved ones, as you can never find anything like it in the west.

9. Ratchada

Ratchada is home to most of the biggest massage parlours in Bangkok, where you can come and wind down after a hard day in the city. Many locals use the service of the parlours around here but the price is costlier than other places as it is seen as the elite for places of such reputation. Massage parlours around this area promote the fact that their girls are not infected with ay disease and a monthly checkup is compulsory. One can come here, have a drink, pick a girl and do their business. Wouldn’t it be pleasant for someone else to take a bath for you once in a while?

10. Tonglor and Ekkamai

Tonglor and Ekkamai are areas along the Sukhumvit road; Tonglor is Sukhumvit Soi 55 and Ekkamai is Sukhumvit Soi 63. An area familiar to socialites and people with more money as it is more expensive than most places in Bangkok, consisting of international cuisine, bars, pubs and clubs that guarantee a night of fun and lots of spending. This is the place where beautiful people of Bangkok come out to show themselves and party with their friends, a great place to new people.

Thailand is famous for its magnificent sights, culture and traditions. Tourists from around the world come here to seek a different type of holiday, a holiday that would give them an opportunity to explore another world.

Bangkok is famous for its vigorous, energetic night life. It could range from a big all out club or a club that looks too small to be a club, both being as lively as one another. The loud music, the over flowing crowd and beautiful people are just the beginning of it all. Here is a list of the Top Ten Clubs in Bangkok.

1. Bed Supperclub

Situated in the heart of Bangkok, Bed Supperclub is considered as the trendiest and the most popular club to date. The club’s structure is somewhat oval making it doubly interesting and rather attracting. Bed Supperclub has hosted numerous world renowned DJs from all around the world, and Tuesday nights are the legendary hip hop nights that cannot be missed.

Location: 26 Sukhumvit Soi 11
Telephone: +66 2 651 3557

2. Booze

The name of this club says everything about, it is all about boozing! Filled with young locals who seek a good time with their friends, this is one of the places to be at weekends. With large screen TVs, brilliant sound system and excellent live bands serenading with all types of music, boozing has never been so appealing.

Location: Sukhumvit 55 (Tonglor) Soi 10

3. Santika

After its recent renovation, Santika found itself in the spotlight of the clubbing scene again. It is famous for its live bands who take the crowd into a different zone with music that are mostly mainstream, DJ’s spin records of the latest hip hop tracks. A place for young, hip locals though foreign tourists are amongst the crowd of party animals, for more information,

Location: 235/11 Sukhumvit 63 (Ekkamai)
Telephone: +66 2 711 5886

4. Coloc

A new section that was added to Santika, creating this suave spot for those who prefer tougher hip hop beats. With its dark walls, lavish velvet curtains and chandeliers altogether with the replicas of Victorian furniture, this is the spot to be if hip hop is the music for you. This club’s crowd leans more towards foreign customers as there are not any live bands, just pure dirty beats.

Location: 235/11 Sukhumvit 63 (Ekkamai)
Telephone: +66 2 711 5886

5. Escudo

Arguably the hottest spot in Bangkok, Escudo consists of two floors. The first has a DJ spinning the latest and hottest hip hop records, the second floor has a more chilled out atmosphere with smooth and soothing house music. With the amount of the people flowing in, the place should be a bit bigger but you cannot have everything in life.

Location: The Dutchess Plaza Building, Sukhumvit Soi 55 (Tonglor)
Telephone: +66 2 381 0866

6. Escobar

Shares the same name as the notorious Pablo Escobar, but not the notoriety as this is a very hip (but rather small) club. Don’t be put off by the fact that it is small because the atmosphere is absolutely incredible, filled with locals and tourists in search of the same goal, to have a fun, wild night. The music of this club is the fashionable hip hop music, despite the size the crowd never looked to bothered about it.

Location: Sukhumvit 63 (Ekkamai)
Telephone: +66 2 711 6565

7. Route 66

Divided into two main zones, East and West (different genres of music according to zones) but the main selling point is the zone that provides the club goers with ear blasting hip hop. Many felt this was the place that robbed Bed Supperclub’s popularity and rightly so. What is different about this super-club is that a dance floor is unheard of. Instead, tables are put out for the drinks as most locals favour the whiskey/soda combination more.

Location: RCA Block C, Rama 9 Road
Telephone: +66 1 440 9666

8. Flix & Slim

When a first timer visits this club, the things that they will unlikely forget is the mass of people who come to this place. Walking in this club is like being crushed and squeezed by your fellow human beings but fear not, once inside the atmosphere will make you forget all of that. The main attraction of the two is Slim, as one can hear the blasting out of hip hop music from a kilo away, though Flix is not empty but it attracts the lesser crowd of electro/house music followers.

Location: RCA Block C, Rama 9 Road
Telephone: +66 2 203 0377-8

9. Café Democ

This place is restaurant by day, a club by night, would simply be missed if driving by without looking out for it, but it is one of the strongest forces in the Bangkok night life. Hosting various techo night, drum and bass night, electro pop night, trance night, breakbeat night and the list goes on.

Location: Next to Democracy Monument, Ratchadamnoen Road
Telephone: + 66 2 622 2571

10. Club Culture

If you consider yourself a true dancing fan then Club Culture is the club you should head to. Owned by the same team as the ones that previously owned Club Astra (in RCA but closed now) though this place seems to be a bigger hit amongst clubbers. The structure of the club is an old Thai house (used to be a restaurant and theatre) just the entrance would make one want to experience a night in Club Culture.

Location: Sri Ayutthaya Road, Phaya Thai
Telephone: + 66 89 497 8422
